February 7th Is National Optimist Day
Join others all over the country and celebrate National Optimist Day! February 7th is recognized every year by Optimist International as National Optimist Day. Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of 2,500 clubs whose members work each day to make a future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities and in themselves (https://www.optimist.org/).
The Sioux Falls community actually has 3 different Optimist clubs looking forward to promoting this goal tomorrow, February 7th. The Sioux Falls Morning Optimists meet every Thursday morning at 7:15 AM at Active Generations. The Sioux Valley Optimists meet every Monday at noon at Pizza Ranch on E. 10th and The Brandon Valley Optimists hold thier monthly meeting the 3rd Thursday of each month at Tailgators in Brandon starting at 7 PM. Each club has the same goal of promoting the community youth through involvement, fundraising, and mentorship.
The Optimist Creed strongly outlines the club goals and culture.
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet with a smile.
To give so much time to improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
So this Thursday February 7th, remember to show your optimism and be greatful for the day! And if you are interested in joining a club, let me know! I have been a member of the Sioux Falls Morning Optimists for 5 years now and if has been a rewarding experience!
