New City Playgrounds In Store For Sioux Falls
The Sioux Falls Park and Recreation Department has released information regarding playground upgrades coming soon. The city has named 4 parks that will receive upgrades. Upgrades include the newest in industry play equipment and will meet all industry guidelines for safety and accessibility, which includes a poured-in-place rubber surface. The 4 parks include:
Kuehn Park-2501 S Kuehn Park Road
Meldrum Park-1720 E Sixth Street
Bakker Park-6201 W 61st Street
Tuthill Park-3500 S Cliff Avenue
The construction began June 5th at Kuehn Park and Meldrum Park. 2 weeks later, June 19th, construction will begin on Bakker Park and Tuthill Park. During construction, the park areas will be closed but shelters and green space will still be available for park visitors. The Sioux Falls Park and Recreation is advising caution to all visitors in these areas during construction.
The department routinely moniters playground equipment age, condition, and safety. The project of playground equipment replacement is being funded by the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation's capital imporvement program and is expected to cost approximately $479,000. They are hoping to have construction in all 4 parks wrapped up by July of 2017.
